The Bukit Jalil Sports Complex is undergoing a major makeover for the upcoming 2017 SEA Games. Dubbed the KL Sports City, the rejuvenation of the sporting infrastructure is on schedule and currently stands at 60% completion.
The construction work, led by the Malaysia Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB), is focused on four aspects of the KL Sports City. They are the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, the Putra Indoor Stadium, the National Aquatic Centre, and the National Hockey Stadium.
The KL Sports City will also house a large-scale plaza that will complement the other venues. There will be a covered walkway from the LRT station leading up to the plaza.
Other upgrades that the sports complex will receive include new and improved seats for the media, numbered seating in the stadium, and a scan-ticket entry.
“MRCB will deliver a world-class national sports complex that will provide both athletes and spectator with gold-standard sporting facilities and experience.” said MRCB’s general manager, S. Nalgunalingam.
“We will ensure timely completion and handover for the 2017 SEA Games.” he added.
The KL Sports City project is expected to complete by July 2017.
