Uh oh, things are not looking good for the ex-FIFA president. Sepp Blatter has lost his appeal against a 6-year ban from football imposed on him by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
The long anticipated verdict was announced yesterday.
The 80-year old Blatter was slammed with the ban after he allegedly paid $2 million Swiss Francs to former UEFA president, Michael Platini in 2011. Platini was also hit with a six-year ban, but the ban was later reduced to four years. The Frenchman resigned in 2016.
According to Blatter, the verdict was “difficult” to accept but that “the way the case progressed, no other verdict could be expected.”
Both Blatter and Platini think they are victims of profound injustice.
Sep Blatter served as FIFA’s president from 1998 to 2015. He resigned in 2015 after 17 years; as soon as his corruption scandal emerged into the spotlight.
