Reigning Malaysia Super League champions Johor DT have officially announced the signing of former Harimau Muda wonderkid Syahrul Azwari.
The 23 year-old was scheduled to return to Kelantan, after his loan stint with Sarawak expired in November. But it now appears that JDT have struck a deal to bring the highly-rated attacker to Johor Bahru.
A club statement published on their Facebook page read: “We would like to welcome Syahrul Azwari, who has officially joined Johor Darul Ta’zim Football Club. We’d like to wish him good luck in JDT.”
The Tanah Merah-born lad started his career with the Bukit Jalil Sports School, before being integrated into the Harimau Muda set-up in 2010. He spent five years there, until the program was discontinued in 2015.
Syahrul was then required to report back to his home team, Kelantan FA. Instead, he opted to join Sarawak FA, sparking a controversy between both clubs. Eventually, they struck a loan deal, allowing Syahrul to play for the Crocs throughout 2016.
