If you’re a Malaysian football fan, you are probably still recovering from the harsh reality that we lost to Myanmar last weekend and kicked out of the AFF Suzuki Cup. Most of the fans also did not hold back after the match, they blamed the Malaysia Football Association (FAM) and our national coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee for the tragic loss.
But Selangor FA midfielder S. Veenod does not seem to think that Datuk Ong Kim Swee (DOKS) is the problem. He wants DOKS to stay, despite the all the criticism about the medicore team he has produced.
“I hope he stays. Most of us in the national team are already used to his pattern of training. If we get a new coach, it might take us some time to adapt to it.” he told Arena Metro.
S. Veenod further explained that DOKS should be retained because he’s Malaysian, and it is easier for the team and players to understand and cooperate with him. Although the team is disillusioned that they were sent back packing at the group stage, he is positive that they have given their best.
“I don’t think a lot of people understand. We gave it our best shot, but luck was not on our side. We represent the country, carry its name, and whatever the coach has given us, we put it to good use.”
Do you agree with S.Veenod? Let us know whether DOKS should stay or go.
