In an interview on League of Legends on Astro SuperSport, former English footballer Paul Parker did not hold back when commenting on his former Manchester United team mate, Danish goalkeeper, Peter Schmeichel.
When answering a question by host Adam C, Paul Parker said that despite Schmeichel’s size, which earned him the nickname Big Pete, he was actually a coward who did not ‘front up’ most of the time, and was even a bit of a “baby” and a “big sulker”.
Parker went on to claim that Schmeichel was also one who gave himself too much ‘self importance’.
According to Parker, in an magazine interview talking about Denmark, there was a poll about the two most important people in Denmark. The poll listed the two people; one was the King, second was Peter Schmeichel. Upon reading that, Schmeichel bragged aloud to his friends that he is indeed the second most important person in Denmark, after the King.
“That sums up Big Pete,” Parker said of the 52-year old. “He had such an ego, he was so arrogant. Everything about him was ‘me’.”
Paul Parker is known for his blunt, no-holds-barred opinions on footballers. Back in August, he labelled Manchester United’s striker Wayne Rooney as ‘over-weight and slow’.
“If someone had only heard of Wayne Rooney but seen him now they’d think ‘Who is this fella? He’s overweight and slow. That shot was terrible and it looks like he can’t move or shift his body quick enough.” Parker told 888Sport.
