Kedah’s Rizal Ghazali determined to bring Malaysia Cup back to Alor Setar

The Malaysian Cup 2016 is just around the corner, and we will see both Kedah and Selangor battling it out at the final again.

However, this time around, Kedah’s defender Rizal Ghazali hopes that things will take a different turn. The 24-year old right-back is ecstatic that Kedah managed to beat Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) on a 2-1 aggregate, and hopes that they can replicate the win when they face Selangor on the 30th of October at the Shah Alam.

“We’ve been through a lot, right from the start of the season with the Super League, FA Cup and now the finals of the Malaysian Cup. We’ve been criticised time and again for failing to achieve our target, and we’ve also been praised whenever we performed exceptionally.” Rizal told Harian Metro.

Rizal also urged the team to stay strong and brave when facing Selangor at the finals. Kedah last picked up the Malaysian Cup back in 2008.

“We want to bring the Malaysian Cup back to Kedah.” he asserted.

The Malaysian Cup 2016 championship kicked-off last July, as 16 local teams from the Malaysian Premier League and Malaysian Super League battled each other to make it to the finals.

Selangor and Kedah will face each other in the final again this 30th of October at the Shah Alam stadium. Selangor claimed the trophy last year after securing a 2-0 win against Kedah.
