It’s been a difficult year for Terengganu fans, but there appears to be light at the end of the tunnel, after all.
According to sources, Irfan Bakti is set to arrive in Kuala Terengganu today, as both parties gear up to finalize an agreement that would see him spearhead the Turtles’ bid for revival, next year.
Irfan, who coached FELDA United to a second-spot finish in the Super League this year, announced his decision to leave the Fighters last month, after failing to guide them to a league triumph.
He was instantly linked with a host of teams across Malaysia, but Terengganu’s well-documented struggle for a consistent head coach meant that they pushed the hardest to secure Irfan’s return.
The 65 year-old had a fruitful stint with the Turtles between 2009 and 2011, winning the FA Cup in 2011, besides being runners-up in the Malaysia Cup as well as the Super League, in the same year. He went on to become Selangor’s head coach in 2012 and 2013, before moving to FELDA United in 2014.
Terengganu fans, what are your thoughts on PBSNT’s decision? Are you excited to see Irfan Bakti back at the club?
