Looks like our badminton teams are not slowing down!
Malaysia’s mixed doubles team, Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing successfully claimed their second international title this year. The pair bagged gold at the recent Thailand Open yesterday.
Kian Meng-Pei Jing defeated Tang Chun Man-Tse Ying Suet of Hong Kong with nerve-wrecking sets of 21-16, 22-20. Together, they also won their first ever international title at the Vietnam Open back in July.
“I could not sleep on the eve of the final. I was restless and nervous. It was our sixth final this year and I did not want to mess it up with Kian Meng,” said Pei Jing told The Star. “It’s a meaningful win for us. Finally, we have moved up a level by winning our first GP Gold title.”
The Vietnam Open was a third tier tournament, while the GP Gold is a second-tier tournament on international arena.
The win also granted them Kian Meng-Pei Jing a cash prize of US$ 9,480 (about RM 39,000).
