The reason we (or most of us) follow football players on social media is to get to know the person behind the jersey. What is he like as a father, a friend, a husband, a son? What does he do in his free time? Where does he go? What is his dog’s name?
Here are some of the football players who excel in fan-service, showing us their quirky side; giving us exactly what we came for:
Neymar – neymarjr
This Barcelona forward is our favourite Instagrammer. He is eccentric and funny, and he has no qualms showing that side of him to the fans. From Boomerang videos, karaoke, and dance sessions in the dressing room, Neymar shows us that he is just like any other 24-year old.
Antoine Griezmann – antogriezmann
Griezmann loves his spontaneous videos, and we can’t get enough of them. He has no problem using strange, disfiguring filters, so long as he can entertain his fans. We also see him singing the happy birthday song, pretending to be Jack Sparrow, and well, who knows what this is.
And oh, you’ve got to watch this parody of “Hotline Bling”, featuring the Atletico Madrid forward himself!
Kaka – kaka
Kaka is the super-talented, family-oriented man that everyone aspires to be. But that doesn’t mean he is all serious, he enjoys his fair share of car-jamming, celebrity-crushing, and squirting water on his teammate’s face cos he’s happy. Nope, not joking.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic – iamzlatanibrahimovic
We follow Zlatan for only two reasons; his sarcasm and self-assured attitude. He gives us a first-hand peek into his workout regime, and reminds us that hard-work always pays off. And oh, remember when he sent a thoughtful package to Claudio Bravo just before the Derby? Nuff said.
Check out his caption when he met Queen Silvia of Sweden:
Paul Pogba – paulpogba
This 23-year old Frenchman is an absolute delight on our feed. A big music fan, he constantly posts videos on himself either dancing, rapping, or lip-syncing to his favourite tunes. He updates us in the most bizarre way whenever he gets a new hairdo, and he loves his caught-me-offguard photos like any other guy.
Also, we’d love to see him do a dance-off with Neymar, if it is at all possible!
Alvaro Morata – alvaromorata
Three things are very clear from Morata’s Instagram feed; he loves his girlfriend, his BFF Nacho Fernandez, and his pet chihuahua. Aside from his exceptional goal scoring skills on the pitch, he’s a simple guy who loves a night in with his girlfriend and pizzas. Although, sometimes he drags her to the cinema against her will, as seen in the photo below:
