Jamaican sprinting sensation, Usain Bolt closed out what could be his final individual race at the Olympics by winning the gold in 200m.
Canada’s Andre De Grasse, who is also the bronze medallist in 100m, was expected to pose a challenge to the two-time defending champion, but Bolt was off and away by the time he turned on the bend.
The 29-year-old failed to beat the world and Olympic record, but his time of 19.78 seconds was well ahead of De Grasse and Christophe Lemaitre of France, who won silver and bronze respectively.
There was a hint of disappointment in Bolt’s face since he set out to break his own world record in Rio, but he is still ecstatic as he claimed his eighth career gold medal.
“I don’t need to prove anything else. What else can I do to prove to the world I am the greatest?” he said.
The Jamaican ace will compete in the 4x100m relay final tomorrow to hunt for a historic triple-triple.
