It has been confirmed!
Malaysia have been paired into Group B for the AFF Suzuki Cup at the end of this year! Datuk Ong Kim Swee’s men will be facing Vietnam, Myanmar and the winner of a qualifying battle between Laos, Timor Leste, Cambodia and Brunei.
This also means that Group A will undoubtedly be billed as the ‘Group of Death’ as it features reigning champions Thailand, 2012 finalists Singapore, 2010 finalists Indonesia as well as Philippines, who’ve improved tremendously in recent times.
OKS will be undoubtedly be relieved with the draw, though it must be said that Vietnam and Myanmar are more than capable of posing a significant threat on their good days.
Group A will be based in the Philippines and matches will be hosted at the Philippines Sports Stadium in Bocaue as well as the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila. Meanwhile, Group B will be based in Myanmar and matches will be hosted at the Thuwunna YTC Stadium and Aung San Stadium – both of which are in Yangon.
The month-long tournament is set for kick-off on the 19th of November with the two-legged final set to end on the 17th of December.
