National athlete Khairul Hafiz Jantan is bound to receive a huge bonus worth RM10,000 from the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) after breaking the national 100 metres sprint record.
OCM president Datuk Karim Ibrahim stated that he will have a discussion with Khairul and his coach to come up with the best plan of action to prepare himself for the SEA Games in 2017.
“Congratulations to Khairul Hafiz for breaking the national record. This achievement will be etched in history because of the 18-year record,” Karim said as quoted by Berita Harian.
“Khairul has a huge potential because he is one of the brightest talents in all of Asia.
“We (OCM) will discuss further with Khairul to find a solution to help him strive further.”
During the 18th edition of the SUKMA Games in Sarawak, sprinter Khairul Hafiz Jantan broke Watson Nyambek’s 18-year 100 metres national record with a time of 10.18 seconds.
