Kim Swee: I have no time for critics

Harimau Malaysia head coach, Ong Kim Swee won’t be affected by negative critics despite leading his side to a 2-1 victory over New Caledonia in the 2nd fixture of the Oceanic Tour 2016 in Numa-Daly Magenta Stadium. In fact, Kim Swee chose to focus on his task instead in preparing the national squad for the upcoming 2016 AFF Suzuki Cup and the 2019 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers.

Critics claim that the national team have not perform to the best of their potential despite beating New Caledonia 2-1, after losing 2-0 to Papua New Guinea in the first match of the tour. The Malacca-born manager said that his side understood the importance in improving the world ranking of Harimau Malaysia, but it is also vital for him to take the risk in fielding young players to give them exposure.

“I believe my job won’t be done if I want to know about the criticisms. Our main priority here (Oceania) is to improve our ranking, but at the same time, should I be using only 14 players? The important thing is I have plenty of backup in case one of the main players is injured, hence I won’t bother about the critics.”

“I am also considering about some of the players that I have not play, namely S. Kumaahran and Muhamad Amirul Hisyam Awang Kechik. They will be given a chance as well so that I can evaluate all the players in a clear manner,” said Kim Swee, as quoted by Kosmo! yesterday.
