Perak edging closer to signing of ex-NK Zagreb forward?

Perak FA are reportedly edging closer towards securing a new foreign striker in the form of Albanian star Xhevahir Sukaj.

The 28 year-old has been in Ipoh for the past one week, undergoing a trial stint with Karl Heinz Weigang’s side. The Seladangs are reportedly hosting another foreign trialist, though it appears that Sukaj has caught their attention.

Weigang is determined to get someone who will guarantee goals upfront, judging by Perak’s inability to convert chances into goals in the first half of the season. And while Sukaj has impressed in training sessions, there are still doubts over his general fitness and ability to cope in the MSL.

The Seladangs are likely to finalize their decision in the next few days, though they are open to looking elsewhere should Weigang opt against signing the former NK Zagreb striker.

Meanwhile, speculations also suggests that Perak will push to reintegrate Oybek Kilichev as their replacement for Eric Weeks Lewis, who left for Indonesian side Madura United. Oybek was initially signed last December, though his registration was rejected by FAM, as he failed to meet an important criteria under the FAM rulebook.

FAM rules state that foreigners from Asian leagues must come directly from first division clubs – while Oybek signed for Perak after making three appearances in the Iranian second division.
