Euro 2016 has been absolutely brilliant so far, in providing nerve-wrecking matches that are largely dominated by end-to-end action. For Matchday 3 of the competition, we take a look at Germany vs Ukraine.
Ukraine have struggled for goals badly against top tier opposition and going back through their competitive fixtures have not scored a goal against a ‘marquee’ opponent in a competitive game since a 2-0 win against France in a 2014 first leg World Cup Qualifying play of in 2013.
The lost the second leg 3-0 and have not been the same side since. Germany have been far from convincing in their pre-tournament friendlies but are pass masters at lolling the football world into a false sense of security going into a major tournament.
Lest we forget they are the reigning World Champions! They started that wining campaign in Brazil with a 4-0 destruction of Portugal and a convincing victory is on the cards in the North of France.
