France got Euro 2016 underway with an emphatic 2-1 win over Romania last night, thanks to Dimitri Payet’s sensational strike. Today, three other games will take place, including what should be a historic clash between Albania and Switzerland.
This game represents the first test of Michel Platini’s theory that there are 24 teams capable of being competitive in European football when the pressure is truly on.
Switzerland’s last warm up game was against Moldova, opponents picked clearly with this game in mind. The Swiss had enough to win that final tune up 2-1 and should be able to navigate the Euro new boys and set up a decisive Group A ‘winner’ clash with France in the process.
