The Perak Football Association (PAFA) have announced the appointment of Karl Heinz Weigang as head coach and technical director of The Bos Gaurus for the rest of the season.
According to PAFA president Datuk Seri Abdul Puhat Mat Naya, the contracts were signed by both parties last Wednesday and the reason for approaching Karl Weigang for the head coach role was because of his vast experience and knowledge in Perak and Malaysian football.
Karl Heinz Weigang will have the responsibility of leading the Perak team in the Malaysia Super League (MSL) and as head coach and he will be assisted by Syamsul Saad, who will also be handling the President and Youth Cup teams and the development program for PAFA.
“The appointment and role of Karl Weigang will come hand in hand with the three-year development plan for us,” Datuk Abdul Puhat said on Perak The Bos Gaurus’ Facebook page.
“We have set a target of acquiring the AFC Pro License, AFC/FAM A and B before the end of 2018 to comply with the conditions of the Football Association of Malaysia on privatisation.”
Datuk Abdul Pahat also hopes that the appointment of Karl Weigang will establish and provide knowledge and experience regarding coaching abilities and tactical analysis. He also hopes that Weigang will guide Perak to a good position in the league and the Malaysia Cup.
Karl Heinz Weigang won the prestigious Malaysia Cup trophy with Perak in 1998 and also guided the national team to a historic qualification into the Olympic Games back in 1980.
