National squash queen Datuk Nicol David was awarded the Spirit of Squash for Female Player Award after the PSA World Series Finals concluded United Arab Emirates two days ago.
According to the PSA website, the award is given to players who exemplify the true spirit of the game by displaying true sportsmanship, camaraderie and also fair play on and off court.
Nicol David lost to Raneem El Welily of Egypt in the semi-final of the PSA World Series Finals. The World No. 3 player was selected as the runner-up of the Spirit of Squash Award. Egypt swooped home nine out of ten awards and the other award was handed to Nicol David.
World No. 1 Nour El Sherbini took home the Female Player of the Year Award.
Nicol David has won the Player of the Year Award six times from 2005 to 2010.
