Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) technical director Morten Frost Hansen is confident that Datuk Lee Chong Wei can win a gold medal at the upcoming Olympic Games in Brazil.
Lee Chong Wei and the national team failed to bring back the Thomas Cup trophy home from China after falling to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of eventual champions Denmark in the semi-final, but the national number one put up a consistent display after winning all his games.
The Danish badminton legend has faith in Lee Chong Wei because he has been in form of late, after he won the Celcom Axiata Malaysia Open and the Badminton Asia Championships.
“I have always believed in him (Chong Wei) and that he can achieve success at the upcoming Olympic Games and is working hard at the moment,” he said as quoted by Utusan.
The two-time Olympic silver medallist will join the Indonesia Open from May 30 to June 6.
Lee Chong Wei lost both the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the 2012 London Olympic Games men’s singles final to China’s Lin Dan and will be out for revenge in August.
