Johor Darul Ta’azim (JDT) II winger Zaquan Adha has labelled fellow teammate Dominic Tan as one of the best young talents in Malaysia and deemed him as a future leader for the club.
The ex-Negeri Sembilan man believes Dominic Tan has what it takes to become an integral part of the Southern Tigers system but feels he has a lot to learn before making his mark.
“He (Dominic) is a talented young boy and probably one of the best players for his age in the country,” Zaquan Adha told FourthOfficial.com at Sri Pentas in Bandar Utama yesterday.
“Dominic is learning more about the game every time he steps on a pitch and he is lucky to be under the guidance of Baihakki Khaizan. He is the future of the club as well as Malaysia.
The Malaysia Cup draw was announced yesterday night and Benjamin Mora’s team were pitted in Group A alongside the likes of top-tier sides T-Team, Kedah and Sarawak. However, Zaquan Adha is confident that Dominic will be at his very best in his first ever Malaysia Cup.
“We have a tough group, especially Kedah, who are the only that beat the first team this year, and there are also T-Team and Sarawak. I would not be too worried because we have a good team ourselves and young players such as Dominic Tan will step up for the cause.”
Dominic Tan became a household name when he joined Harimau Muda C and was appointed captain of the squad. He guided them to a fourth-placed finish at the AFF U-19 Youth Championships last year. He plays alongside Baihakki Khaizan in the heart of defence at JDT II and is currently helping the team gain promotion to the Malaysia Super League (MSL).
