The Football Association of Penang (FAP) may have found an answer to their goalscoring woes after Wikipedia announced the marquee signing of ex-Arsenal legend Nicklas Bendtner.
VfL Wolfsburg announced that Nicklas Bendtner’s contract had been terminated on April 25. The Danish forward is expected to join The Panthers squad when the transfer window re-opens in June and it will be historical to witness ‘Lord Bendtner’ playing a part in the Malaysia Super League (MSL) alongside big names such as Faiz Subri, Jafri Chew and S. Kumaahran.
The 6-foot-4 goalscoring machine, who played for Birmingham City and Sunderland as well as won the Serie A title with Italian giants Juventus, is likely be replacing Osas Saha, who has been criticized by fans throughout the season for failing to make an impact at the club.
Nicklas Bendtner replaced Thierry Henry at Arsenal and has played with the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie, Andrea Pirlo, Paul Pogba, Gianluigi Buffon and Julian Draxler. He is expected to bring a certain amount of experience into the Penang squad. However, he will need to put his arrogance aside and share free-kick duties with world-renowned Faiz Subri.
Wikipedia also stated that Atletico Huracan forward Cristian Espinoza will be joining Penang on loan from the Argentinian Primera Division on June 2016 as well. With Bojan Hodak and Nenad Bacina also officially joining them (this is real!), one can only wonder if the European alliance will lead Penang to eternal glory?
