Kelantan goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi Che Mat believes the arrival of head coach Velizar Popov will bring the Pamoga Qu Puteh The Red Warriors (PQPTRW) back on track this season.
Khairul Fahmi, or commonly known as Apek, said that his team will have no problem of adapting to the Bulgarian’s style of play despite the latter only joining last week.
“The change of personnel is common in football. We are happy with the coach’s (Popov) style of play, even though it has only been for a few days,” Apek said as quoted by Sinar Harian.
“The team is enjoying training sessions and we now cannot wait to face Selangor tomorrow.
The 27 year-old goalkeeper wants his team to win their first game on away soil this season.
“I believe the Selangor game tomorrow will be the season-defining moment for us.”
Velizar Popov’s journey in Asia began in 2012 with Maldivian club New Radiant, whom he led to the league title, winning all their games in the process. He also had two short stints with clubs in Oman and Thailand before becoming the head coach of the Maldives national team.
