Selangor’s fate in the AFC Cup will be decided when they face Tampines Rovers in Singapore, later tonight.
Their 0-0 draw against Ceres la Salle last time out means that they need at least one point from the Tampines clash to book their spot in the next round of the competition – something that Zainal isn’t too sure about.
“We have to improve on our conversion rate and probably create more chances. I can still identify a few weaknesses within the attacking department,” he told Sinar Harian.
But if there’s one thing he’s confident about, it’s the qualify of Selangor’s defence, which has improved since Rob Cornthwaite returned from injury.
“Our defence has improved. I always remind my players to avoid mistakes that could open up opportunities for the opposition.
“With God’s grace, it has been working out well as we’ve not conceded in our last two matches,” he proclaimed.
Selangor are currently 2nd on the table with 8 points, one point ahead of Tampines, who incurred a shocking defeat against Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi last time out.
