“Age is just a number” – Goh Jin Wei setting sights on Uber Cup glory

National badminton player Goh Jin Wei believes she has what it takes to help Malaysia succeed in the upcoming Uber Cup, despite featuring in the championship for the first time.

The 2015 World Junior Champion was not expecting a call-up to the Uber Cup squad but will do everything in her power to carry her country’s name all the way until the very end.

Goh Jin Wei, who turns 16 this year, realizes she is much younger than the athletes but is determined to go all out and put the ‘age is just a number’ saying to good use.

“I believe I can overcome all the obstacles because I took part in the Uber Cup qualifying in India and I know I have what it takes,” Goh Jin Wei said as quoted by Utusan Malaysia.

“I have to perform better in Wuhan than before (India), so I need to work on my speed. I was up against Akane Yamaguchi in India and her speed is something that would help me.”

The Uber Cup will be held in Kunshan, China and is scheduled to take place from May 15-22.
