Ex-Man United player Paul Parker believes that Jose Mourinho would not do justice to the wealth of talent coming through the system at Old Trafford, claiming that his appointment would stop the growth of talents like Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard.
Paul was speaking on Astro Supersport’s Champions League coverage last night, where he bravely proclaimed that he’d much rather see the much-maligned Louis van Gaal remain at Old Trafford, than entertain the idea of Mourinho possibly landing the job.
“I’d rather him (Van Gaal) be there than Mourinho be there. Now we are seeing young players come through at United, more so by default. I want to see those young players integrated and nurtured in the right way. Mourinho comes in – its throw that one out, and bring in new ones,” Paul said.
That said, Paul continues to believe that Van Gaal should leave at the end of the season, and he even tipped Laurent Blanc to be the perfect replacement for the Dutchman.
“Laurent Blanc should come in to Manchester United and start from there,” he uttered.
Interestingly, a strong triangle of connection seems to exist between United, Mourinho and PSG. Both United and PSG are keeping tabs on Mourinho, and while United board would hate to lose Mourinho to the French giants, the possibility of it opening the doors for Blanc to take charge at Old Trafford, definitely sounds tempting.
