Melaka United goalkeeper Stefan Petrovski was officially pronounced dead earlier today, after battling critical condition for almost a month.
The 18 year-old half-Malaysian player was struck by lightning during a training session on the 5th of April, alongside Muhammad Afiq Azuan, another Melaka United player.
Both players were immediately rushed to the hospital, where they were admitted into the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). While Afiq regained consciousness and was eventually stabilized, Stefan remained in critical condition for weeks
Four days after the unfortunate incident, his parents released an official press statement, revealing that their son had been diagnosed with hypoxic ischemia, as a result of the cardiac arrest he suffered during the unfortunate incident.
He remained under close observation for the following few weeks though it now appears that the battle has reached a tragic end, with Stefan passing away earlier today.
Rest in Peace, Stefan. Your presence will be sorely missed.
