Kogi and Dinesh handed Malaysian U-19 call-up

The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) have listed Pahang FC’s Kogileswan Raj and R. Dinesh in Frank Bernhardt’s Under-19 squad for the upcoming AFF U-19 Youth Championship in Hanoi, Vietnam, which is scheduled to take place from September 11 to 24.

Surprisingly, the duo, who just returned from England earlier today, were listed as players of Frenz United and not Pahang FC. They were offered a chance in a lifetime to train in the Watford Under-21 team by ex-CEO Fahrizal Hasan, who has ties with the English side.

However, things escalated quickly when Frenz United technical director and former Liverpool player Steve McMahon claimed that Kogi and Dinesh will not be training with Watford.

Frenz United was told to bring up the issue pertaining the legitimacy of contracts of Kogi and Dinesh in civil court, but if they fail to do so before the transfer window opens in June, the duo will be able to sign a contract with Malaysia Super League (MSL) side Pahang FC.

Kogi and Dinesh are two of the 28 players that were called up to attend training next month.

Malaysia finished fourth in the 2015 AFF U-19 Championship after losing 5-0 to Thailand in the semi-final, before going down to Laos in a penalty shoot-out in the third place match.
