Tunku Ismail meets Khairy Jamaluddin in Johor

Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin had the honour of meeting The Regent of Johor, Tunku Ismail ibni Sultan Ibrahim, when he flew down to Johor Bahru yesterday morning.

This comes as a surprise after Tunku Ismail lashed out at Khairy Jamaluddin for claiming that the local players lack the quality needed to perform on the international stage on April 10.

The duo discussed matters regarding the development of national football, before Khairy Jamaluddin was given a tour around Johor Darul Ta’azim’s (JDT) facilities and amenities, such as the training centre, gymnasium and indoor training pitch at Padang Seri Gelam.

“I would like to congratulate Khairy Jamaluddin for his efforts and hard work for the youth and sports in this country,” Tunku Ismail said on Johor Southern Tigers’ Facebook page.

“The meeting has enabled YB Khairy to get a clearer picture regarding football in Johor, especially JDT’s project and youth development programmes in the state. The meeting was very positive, where we were able to sit down and discuss the direction, exchange opinions and also find solutions to improve local football as well as programmes involving the youth.”

The meeting between Tunku Ismail and Khairy Jamaluddin was set up to clarify a few issues after the former challenged the latter as well as the likes of Datuk Ong Kim Swee, B. Sathianathan, Lim Teong Kim and the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) to a debate on live television. Khairy Jamaluddin graciously accepted the challenge and is currently waiting for for a date to be set up in order to tackle the problems of the local football scene.
