After surviving a hard-fought battle against China’s Zhu Junhao-Zhou Chaomin, national mixed doubles shuttlers, Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying managed to progress to the quarter-finals of the China Grand Prix Masters Gold today.
The intense competition between both pairs meant that a deciding set was always on the cards. Thankfully for the Malaysians, they managed to seal a 22-24, 21-12, 21-13 win to book a spot in the last eight.
“The match was pretty intense as this was our first time playing against them which made it harder for us to read their game plan,” Liu Ying told Utusan Malaysia.
“However, the second set witnessed us gaining tempo of the game and we managed to use our strategy to our advantage which led us to victory,” she added.
The national duo are set to face another tough bout in the quarters, with China’s He Jiting-Du Yu awaiting them in the tie.
