Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) secretary general Datuk Hamidin has stated that the leadership of the association can be changed as long as the right procedures are carried out.
The leadership is chosen by members of the governing body and other sports associations.
“There will be procedures when getting involved in a change, and FAM is not excluded. The change is carried out through a selection process,” Datuk Hamidin said as quoted by Utusan.
“This is the standard procedure for any organization, if they want a brand new leadership.
Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin commented on this issue because he was responding to Kelantan Football Association (KAFA) president Tan Sri Annuar Musa’s comments on the need for a change of leadership in FAM because it will help the country further advance in football.
The KAFA president wants the newly-appointed Regent of Johor, Tunku Ismail ibni Sultan Ibrahim, to take control of the entire association in order to improve the local football scene.
Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah was elected president of FAM for the 2014-2018 term when he amassed a total of 27 votes, 15 votes ahead of Tunku Ismail ibni Sultan Ibrahim.
