Malaysian investor, Datuk Dr. Noordin Ahmad, who purchased a 50% stake in Italian Serie B side FC Bari last week, is determined to establish a FC Bari football academy in Malaysia after opening the doors to young athletes in the country to play professional football..
He expressed his interest to invest in FC Bari to promote the level of football in Malaysia.
“I want to make Bari accessible for the youth,” Dr. Noordin said as quoted by Berita Harian.
“We have to give them the chance for a future. The young talents can play for Bari and maybe one day, Manchester United will be impressed by them and offer them a contract.”
FC Bari confirmed the deal last week, through a statement on their Facebook page. A press conference was then held a few days later, as they unveiled Datuk Dr. Noordin as the new FC Bari owner.
Response amongst the fans have been generally positive, considering the club was financially strapped. The Malaysian flag was event paraded on the stands, during Bari’s Serie B clash against Cesena, over a week ago.
