Football Association of Malaysia’s Secretary General, Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin believes that people have misinterpreted TMJ’s recent statements, claiming that a public debate wasn’t the focal point of it.
According to Hamidin, TMJ merely called for a discussion on local between relevant parties in Malaysia, instead of a public debate on live television.
“TMJ’s statements have been misinterpreted. He only wants a fruitful discussion about the development of Malaysian football, not a debate as everyone is claiming. We are open to discussing it with him, but it has to be done behind closed doors,” Hadimin said.
Though TMJ’s statements were relatively precise, especially with regards to the live TV debate, Malaysian national team head coach, Datuk Ong Kim Swee surprisingly echoed Hamidin’s sentiments.
“I don’t think TMJ wants a debate. He merely wants a discussion,” Kim Swee added.
This bit of news will arguably disappoint the legion of local football fans in Malaysia, who have been buzzing with excitement, after Khairy Jamaluddin and B. Sathianathan publicly accepted TMJ’s challenge of participating in the debate.
