Johor Darul Ta’azim (JDT) head coach Mario Gomez wants nothing less than three points when his side visits the New Laos National Stadium to face Lao Toyota FC later tonight.
The ex-Mallorca manager will rest a number of key players due to upcoming matches in the Superbest Power FA Cup on Saturday and the Malaysian Super League (MSL) next week. Safiq Rahim is one of the players that will not feature in tonight’s AFC Cup encounter.
Safiq Rahim was pivotal in the reverse fixture at the Larkin Stadium when The Southern Tigers dismantled the Laos-based team 3-0, courtesy of a brace from the team captain.
“We cannot underestimate Lao Toyota because they might strive better due to the support from the home crowd and play differently,” Mario Gomez said as quoted by Harian Metro.
“We defeated them 3-0 at home and the goal is still the same tonight despite not starting a number of key players because the FA Cup semi-final match against Kedah is on Saturday.
“Junior Eldstal, who has been out for a long time because of injury, might feature tonight but I am still not sure whether I should start him or play him in the second half,” he concluded.
