Selangor’s squad were engulfed in a dull atmosphere but if it wasn’t for Andik Vermansyah, they wouldn’t been enough impetus within the squad, to push for the win.
The 24-year old winger was all over the pitch, dominating the attacking areas of the field. He created Hazwan Bakri’s simple-tap in goal after delivering an accurate cross that landed perfectly on Hazwan’s feet.
Andik’s pace terrified Sheikh Jamal’s defence, causing them to commit clumsy fouls which allowed Selangor to gain free-kicks. His shots also tested the Sheikh Jamal goalie on more than one occassion.
While he may have not contributed much defensively, Andik was undoubtedly the driving force of Selangor throughout the match, which gave his teammates the momentum that was needed to eventually seal a late equalizer.
That said, tt would be a sin to not honor Wedson Anselme of Sheikh Jamal in this piece as he was the backbone of his team. He displayed enormous strength and was often the fulcrum that held the entire team together.
