Experienced defender Zesh Rehman has heaped praises on Pahang’s head coach Razip Ismail, claiming that he’s been instrumental in reviving the team since joining them last month.
After a poor start to the season, Razip led Pahang to their first win of the season in just his second match in charge, as they sealed an emphatic 4-3 win over Perak in Ipoh.
If three points weren’t enough, Dalibor Volas – who has been largely criticized by fans in 2016 – scored an incredible hat-rick on the night, becoming the first player to do so in the MSL, this year.
Zesh was visibly excited with the win and as far as he is concerned, Razip played a big part in helping them turn things around last weekend.
“I’ve been very impressed with Razip’s professionalism and his attention to detail. He’s got the experience as well, which was evident on the field the other day,” Zesh told FourthOfficial.com
“To be fair to Dalibor Volas, we’ve not been playing the sort of football that suits his style as a striker. But obviously with the new head coach, we’ve altered our playing style to help him adapt and it worked wonderfully.
“All the goals he scored last weekend, came from crosses into the box. We attacked through the flanks, and it brought the best out of him,” he added.
Volas now has four goals under his belt for Pahang and Zesh believes that the hat-rick will go a long way in easing the Slovenian’s frustrations, which seems to have stemmed from fan pressure.
“Fans in Malaysia often expect foreign players to come in and hit the ground the running – something Volas didn’t do. So he’s been extremely frustrated.
“But I’m happy he got three goals last weekend. It will undoubtedly boost his confidence for the remainder of the season,” Zesh concluded.
