Selangor have opted to suspend their foreign striker Mauro Olivi for the next few weeks, after the Argentine got himself involved in a brawl with fellow teammate, Hafiz Kamal.
The misunderstanding is believed to have occurred after The Red Giants lost to Felda United at the Tun Abdul Razak Stadium in Jengka. While the news was initially floating around as a rumour, FAS confirmed it through a press statement, before explaining their decision to suspend Olivi.
“After receiving explanations from both parties, we’ve identified the issue as a mere misunderstanding that stemmed from communication barriers,” Selangor FA Team Manager, Amirudin Shari said.
“Olivi has claimed full responsibility for causing the misunderstanding but more importantly, both players have made peace with one another.
“Olivi’s fate will be decided by the FAS Discipline Committee, which is made of independent panels. They’ll be meeting in a few weeks time.
“But for the time being, we’ve decided to suspend Olivi from attending training sessions and matches for the next few weeks, in order to preserve squad harmony,” he added.
