Lee Chong Wei produced an emphatic performance to completely outclass world number one Chen Long, in the Malaysian Open final earlier today.
The Malaysian shuttler had been under pressure heading into the final, considering his poor series of performances at the All England as well as the Indian Open.
Chong Wei though, silenced his critics by claiming a comfortable two-set win in just 42 minutes.
He clinched the first set 21-13, much to the joy of home fans present within the Malawati Stadium in Shah Alam. But just as everyone expected Chen Long to bounce back in the second set, Chong Wei increased his tempo and clinched a 21-8 win to effectively secure the title.
This triumph officially means that Chong Wei has now won the Malaysian Open title on 11 different occasions – an incredible feat by any standards.
