Jacksen F. Tiago became the latest victim to be ‘rested’ from the head coach position at Penang FA after failing to win his last four Malaysia Super League (MSL) games this season.
Assistant coach Manzoor Azwira will now have the responsibility of guiding The Panthers for the rest of the season or until the Football Association of Penang find a suitable replacement.
The former Indonesia manager guided his side to the MSL after finishing in second place in last season’s Premier League. He started this season well for Penang after collecting five points from four games — one win, two draws, one defeat. However, two defeats later and a second round exit in the Superbest Power FA Cup infuriated the local fans in Georgetown.
Penang currently sit in ninth position in the league standings, level with Sarawak and a point ahead of a winless Perak team this season. Pahang is last after one draw and five losses.
The association have also given a warning letter to underperforming players within the squad.
