It’s not been easy for Chong Wei Feng, has it. Just a day after BAM confirmed that he’ll be leaving them in May, the national singles player was sent packing from Indian Open.
Wei Feng was forced to compete in the qualifying stages of the competition, where he edged over Kaushal Dharmamer 24-22, 21-19 in the first round.
But in the second qualifying round, the Malaysian succumbed to Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto, losing 18-21, 11-21.
Meanwhile, former world youth champion Zulfadli Zulkifli was also defeated in the second qualifying round in India. He defeat Pratul Joshi comfortably in the first round, winning 21-9, 21-13.
That being said, Zulfadli was unable to prevail against Japan’s Kazumasa Sakai in the second round, where he was handed a 18-21, 17-21 defeat in straight sets.
Malaysia’s only remaining men’s singles shuttler, Lee Chong Wei is scheduled to play in his first round bout tomorrow. Having won the tournament in 2011, 2013 and 2014, Chong Wei will be hoping to claim his fifth triumph on Indian soil.
