The Malaysian Project 2017 SEA Games squad achievement in claiming a victory and a draw in their first 2 international matches can be considered a great start for the upcoming footballers.
However, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said, there is still plenty of room for improvement for the under-22 (U-22) squad, especially in their gameplay and finishing.
“In my opinion, it can be considered a great start by Bernhardt’s squad but improvements in terms of gameplay and finishing can be carried out,” he told Berita Harian reporters.
“It is based on a general statement and not a tactical one. This is because I only managed to watch the match against Philippines. I didn’t get the time to watch their game against Nepal,” he added.
Frank Bernhardt’s squad was held to a 1-1 draw against Nepal at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium on Sunday. Prior to that match, the U-22’s secured a 4-1 win against Philippines in their first international fixture in the same arena.
