Kelantan FA advisor Datuk Seri Vida (DSV) is planning to sign Spanish and Argentinian players from the La Liga to replace Pamoga Qu Puteh The Red Warrior’s (PQPTRW) foreign players, who have been inconsistent all season, when the transfer window opens in June.
“I have been informed by a few agents that the players in La Liga are ready to be signed.
“I scouted a few players when I was in Madrid recently. The ‘grade C’ players will good enough for my team as long as they perform and are offered at a reasonable price.
“What’s important is the quality of the player because it will determine the remaining course of PQPTRW’s season. If we pay a big sum and the player does not perform, what is the point? Let the transfer be worth the investment put in,” DSV said as quoted by Berita Harian.
Kelantan have four foreign players at the moment, including 2015 Malaysia Super League (MSL) top-scorer Dramane Traore from Mali, Blazhe Illijoski from Macedonia, Jonathan McKain from Australia and Jonatan Lucca from Brazil.
But despite that, Datuk Vida is severely disappointed with the fact that they are merely fifth on the table, with two wins, two draws and a defeat. The Red Warriors have also been sent packing from the FA Cup, after a defeat against Tan Cheng Hoe’s Kedah.
Dr Vida also said that she was impressed with the likes of Ali Ashfaq and Liridon Krasniqi, but she does not plan to bring them to her squad when the transfer window opens in June.
“I did say I admire Ali and Liridon, but it does not mean I want to sign them.
“What I meant was I want foreign players who are as good as them.
“That extra advantage will help PQPTRW to be a main contender for the MSL title this season, and not with the likes of our foreign players,” Datuk Seri Vida concluded.
WHAT DO WE THINK?
When Datuk Seri Vida sponsored Kelantan, the fans in Kota Bharu were over the moon because she had the financial backing to improve the facilities, sign the best players and ultimately challenge for the Malaysia Super League (MSL) and get back into the AFC Cup. However, Kelantan fans have seen their name changed to Pamoga Qu Puteh The Red Warriors, their jerseys brighter than ever and their players struggling to cope this season. But is it fair for her to undermine the existing bunch of foreign players? Shouldn’t they be afforded more time?
