The news of Lee Chong Wei’s shocking exit from the All England championship has been taking over the headlines this week and coach Hendrawan has reiterated that bygones should be bygones and instead all parties should look ahead and focus on the Olympics, rather than his shortfall.
The national ace suffered an early exit in just the first round after being defeated by India’s B. Sai Praneeth last week and sent the crowd gasping and stunned over the unexpected defeat. The media spared no mercy and had tons of articles and reports published for days to assess Chong Wei’s failure.
However, Hendrawan was not at all affected by Chong Wei’s defeat and even stated that the main focus will be the Olympics and the All England should not be a worry.
“To me, the main focus is the Olympics. It’s better to give his all there. Win or lose in the All England is not really the main issue,” said Hendrawan as quoted from Sinar Harian.
“To lose is to lose, there is no excuse for it. We need to accept this defeat and work hard for the future tournaments.”
“I hope that everyone will have faith in Chong Wei because his main goal is the Olympics.”
