After missing out on two editions of the All England championship, national men’s doubles duo Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong are ever ready to revalue their glory on the English soil next week.
The two stated that the competition in the Barclaycard Arena next week will be intense and did not set any high hopes but despite that, they vowed to deliver a much improved performance in the prestigious event.
“To me, the All England championship is a big tournament and all our opponents are definitely tough,” said Boon Heong as quoted from Berita Harian.
“We just need to polish our preparations and do our very best.”
“In fact, both of us did not really set any high hopes this time round.”
The former top seeds, whom were crowned champions in 2007, will be facing India’s Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy in their opening match.
The Malaysian pair also stood on the podium in 2011, but only as runner-ups after suffering a defeat to Denmark’s Mathias Boe and Carsten Morgensen.
Soon after that, Kien Keat made the decision to leave the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) due to his inconsistent performance. Partner Boon Heong also took the same route last year. However, not long later, the two made a comeback and started to play as a team again.
