Former national track cyclist, Rizal Tisin wants Azizulhasni Awang to continue focusing on the Rio Olympics which will commence in a few months’ time.
Rizal pointed out that cyclists from countries such as Germany, France and Britain will evidently provide a tough challenge in the Olympics and the only way to deal with their challenge is to trump them by improving before the Olympics.
“He needs to continue focusing. I am optimistic that he will improve his performance in these few remaining months before the Games commence,” Rizal told Harian Metro reporters.
“I believe that proper planning and advanced preparation will give him a headstart in the competition,” he added.
WHAT DO WE THINK?
Rizal is absolutely right. While Azizul did win bronze on Sunday, it should in no way dilute his focus for the Olympics. The gap between him and rest aren’t too big so it’s entirely plausible for someone to pip him in Rio. But the motivation he attained by winning the bronze medal is something he should capitalize on and use to push himself harder in the coming few months. John Beasley has got his training plan figured out, everything is purely up to Azizulhasni now.
