Man of the Match: Terengganu 0-2 Johor DT

Johor Darul Ta’azim (JDT) continued their impressive run of victories after beating Terengganu 2-0 at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium in Kuala Terengganu tonight.

The Southern Tigers dominated their third M-League match of the season with the help of Hariss Harun, S. Chanturu, Safee Sali, Gary Steven Robbat and Azinee Taib. However, there was only one player who stood out ahead of everyone else, and that was Pereyra Diaz.

The 25 year-old Argentinian was impressive in JDT’s title-winning season in 2014 as he racked up a total of 14 goals in 27 matches, before being loaned out to Independiente a season later. He has scored three goals in four matches for JDT this season, and added one more to that list after his brilliant finish against Mike Mulvey’s Terengganu.

The 5-foot-10 striker was everywhere on the pitch as he helped JDT to clinch all three points. He saw his free kick brilliantly saved by ex-Selangor goalkeeper Sharbinee Allawee on the 17th minute of the game. He also linked up well with his teammates throughout the game, including setting up a glorious attempt for Safee Sali on the 20th minute.

Pereyra Diaz assisted S. Chanturu to score the first goal of the game, before striking ferociously five minutes later to double The Southern Tiger’s lead. That was his fourth goal in five matches this season.

Johor Darul Ta’azim have been impressive all season long, not losing a single game (including the penalty shoot-out defeat at the hands of Muangthong United). The Southern Tigers can rely on Pereyra Diaz to help them retain the MSL and AFC Cup this season.
