LTdL 2016: Malaysian cyclists satisfied with Stage One showing

National cyclists Adiq Husainie Othman and Loh Sea Keong had quite a disappointing day yesterday as the two failed to achieved a podium win in their race during the Le Tour de Langkawi. However, despite the lost, the racers were absolutely content with their results.

The two managed to start off well alongside Wang Meiyin of Hengxiang Cycling Team and Meher Hasnaoui of Skydive Dubai Pro Cycling team during the first stage but after three sprinting zones and three climbing zones, the pair struggled to maintain their rhythm in the last 10 kilometres of the race.

“I raced as usual and I was happy with my performance as I had not raced in a competition for eight months. What I displayed gave me confidence to do better,” said Seo Keong as quoted from Harian Metro.

As for Adiq, the Terengganu native managed to place himself within the top three in the overall standings.

“I am satisfied with my results today an I believe that I can gather more points to grab the teal here (sprint king) in the remaining seven stages,” he told Bernama.

Adiq attributed their dismay to the terrible weather as the temperature managed to hit as high as 36 degrees celsius, which affected the cyclists’ rhythm.
