The Maybank Malaysia Championship (MMC) has ended and for the likes of national golfer Nicholas Fung, he has managed to secure his best individual result ever in the championship as he successfully placed himself at no.24 overall.
The 26 year-old Sabahan scored his stellar outing in the European Tour co-sanctioned event after closing two under-69 for a six under 278 total in the Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC). He was by far the best local golfer yesterday.
However, despite achieving a personal best, Nicholas claimed that he could have done better and attributed the matter to his greed for scoring birdies. The golfer lost focus and only stood as high as 24th after a disappointing day.
“I had to struggle in the first two days because playing on the RSGC is not an easy thing,” he said as quoted from Utusan.
“However, overall I am still quite positive that this week I’ll be able to achieve more points in Australia.”
Nicholas won a total of USD29,400 (RM123,700) and placed himself at no.23 on the Asian Tour Order of Merit. His next tournament will be the Perth Interntional on February 25.
