Johor DT completely annihilated UiTM FC in the second round of the FA Cup earlier today, claiming a comprehensive 5-0 rout at the UiTM Shah Alam Stadium.
Quite a number of JDT players did well throughout the game, but Chanturu probably edged over the rest with his two-goal show.
This 28-year old winger dominated the right flank with his offensive runs, but he was equally supporting when it came to defending as well. More importantly though, he netted two crucial goals in the first half, which allowed JDT to dictate the tempo of the game.
After being played through nicely by Amri Yahya, Chanturu produced a composed finish to find the back of the net on the 31st minute. Merely four minutes later, he scored with a clinical finish to make it 3-0 for JDT (Amri opened the scoreline on the 13th minute).
In fact, the ex-Sarawak winger could have had his hat-rick today, if not for UiTM goalkeeper Pavel Matiash’s brilliant saves on two occassions.
Predictably, competition within the JDT squad is extremely high, especially after the arrival of Azinie Taib, Azamuddin Akil and Juan Martin Lucero. But if Chanturu continues to produce performances like this, he will undoubtedly be receiving plenty of playing time this year.
