Faiz Subri sets sight on Harimau Malaysia spot

Faiz Subri, who has been trending worldwide for his ‘miracle goal’ that amazed football fans (and physicists) everywhere, wants to don the national colours of black and yellow after being disappointed when he was given his first chance.

The Penang striker, 29, said that he was called up by the national camp but was unfortunately dropped at the last minute. However, the disappointment he suffered did not once dampen his spirits.

The Kedah-born player added that he is focusing solely on Penang’s next two fixtures, the FA Cup tie against Kuantan tomorrow and the M-League clash against PDRM next week.

“Before this, I was asked to join the training camp (August 2015) but that was it. I am hoping for a second chance in the near future,” he said yesterday, according to Utusun Malaysia.

Faiz Subri’s goal was so good that the Penang government rewarded him with a bonus of RM10,000.

He was happy that his side managed a victory after losing the first match to Terengganu, and believes that it will inject a little bit of enthusiasm and spirit in his teammates.

“We have to give our best to achieve our goal of finishing in the top six in the M-League because the competition this season is extremely tough,” he added.
