The biggest cycling race in Asia, Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) will be back on track for its 21st edition on February 24, with sponsorships fully covering the expenses of the event.
A week ago, CEO of LTdL, Emir Abdul Jalal would have said that they were still RM500,000 (5%) short of the total expenses, but today, Emir is confident that the race will go on as planned.
“For this race, we managed to get one or two major sponsors. With the grants and sponsorships we acquired, it is more than enough to carry out the event,” he said, according to Berita Harian.
“The current budget allows us to have a great show and at the same time, re-introduce the cavalcade promotion this year.
“One thing for sure, we will bring the excitement to the fans all race long,” he added.
The entire budget for the 2016 LTdL is RM15.5 million, with the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) providing a grant worth up to RM11 million.
The new sponsors of the 2016 LTdL include Farzuan Richglobal Sdn Bhd, LA Genius Sdn Bhd, Rakyat Management Services Sdn Bhd (Ar-Rahnu X’Change), NSK Trade City Sdn Bhd and Tourism Melaka.
